Moves
The edges of the graph. A chronological ledger of every move I've embodied, in the order I embodied it.
Moves are the edges of the graph. Each move page declares:
fromPosition— where the move beginstoPosition— where it endsprinciplesandskills— what it relies on underneathbjjSources— where I learned it (instructional + volume + timestamp)addedOn— the date I embodied it and committed the page
Same rule as software documentation: only embodied moves have pages. If a move isn't here, I don't know it yet.
Ledger
All moves below from Volume 02 of The Only Way Out by Brian Glick. Added 2026-04-26.
Chain 1: Sit-through to trilemma
- Sit-through to half guard — the foundational escape from front headlock. Walk to a leg, frame, wedge, capture.
- Knee lever — when partner keeps hands locked after half guard, tilt them over.
- Scoop sweep — trilemma prong 1. Roll-through when partner has a whizzer.
- Back take from half guard — trilemma prong 2. Partner posts hand, you take their back.
- Knee slide takedown — trilemma prong 3. Partner pulls back with whizzer, you come up and attack.
Chain 2: Two-on-one to arm drags
- Two-on-one pass-off — patient escape using thumb grip and pump-handle. Head to the outside.
- Arm drag to back take — partner pushes in, drag past, chest lock on back.
- Arm drag to Sumi Gaeshi — partner pulls back, slide forward, hook and lift.
- Arm drag to Hiza Guruma — partner stalemates, uppercut through, chest-to-chest sweep.
- Snap-down reversal — rise and snap partner into your own front headlock.
Chain 3: Locked-hands escapes
- Thumb-post drag — Americana-like leverage on the shoulder when hands won't unlock.
- Sucker drag — true arm drag with two hands on the tricep for the strongest grips.
