The last "company" I worked at was essentially a one-person operation embedded in a healthcare agency. So the thing I'd change is the thing I'm actively changing: I'd add a team.

Building six products alone was a proving ground. It taught me everything about ownership, initiative, full-stack thinking, and shipping under pressure. But it taught me nothing about collaboration, code review, knowledge sharing, or the kind of architectural evolution that happens when multiple perspectives converge on the same problem.

I'd also change the sustainability model. The agency was paying for enterprise tools at $5,100 a month combined. I replaced them. But the replacement was me, one person, maintaining everything. If I got hit by a bus, the entire technology stack would become unmaintainable. That's not a healthy system. I'd want to build something where the knowledge is distributed, the bus factor is greater than one, and the system survives any individual's absence.
